It was September 16, 2019, and Jessica Nunez had prepared breakfast and was wondering where her 15-year-old daughter Alicia Navaro was. That was when Jessica noticed that her back door was open. She went out and checked her backyard and saw several chairs stacked up against the back gate. She instantly knew something was wrong so she went upstairs to check on Alicia but Alicia wasn’t there.

Jessica immediately contacted the Glendale police as Alicia is autistic and has never been known to do anything like this. As Jessica looked around Alicia’s room she noticed two major things one a note on Alicia’s desk that read “I ran away. I will be back. I swear. I’m sorry.” And two her laptop and phone were missing but her chargers were not. This indicated to Jessica that Alicia was leaving but that she wasn’t planning to stay out for a long period of time.

One of the first things Alicia’s mother tried to do was to get a silver alert sent out for Alicia. A silver alert is a missing person alert sent out when a person with mental or cognitive disabilities goes missing. Jessica pushed so hard for this alert to be sent out as she very strongly believed it was the best way for the public to help get her daughter home safely. And she did successfully get that alert sent out but we still don’t know if it helped.

Below is a Predicted Timeline of her Disappearance

To get into the details Alicia had always struggled to socialize with new people outside of her friendship circle but once she found out about online gaming she became very interested and she enjoyed talking to people through online gaming. Her mother had talked with her multiple times about how to be safe online.

As I said Jessica found chairs stacked up against their back fence it is presumed that that is how Alicia left her house that night. They also later found a small hole in Alicia’s flyscreen. The FBI checked her internet history and there was no record of her talking to somebody repeatedly but they could have asked her to delete her history or done other things to ensure they were kept secret. Finally, the last piece of evidence we have about Alicia’s disappearance is a possible last known sighting of her on CCTV footage. As well as a possible sighting in Nebraska.

Lastly, I would like to discuss the common theory and the theory I personally believe. This theory starts with the idea of Alicia meeting someone online through gaming. Throughout possibly even months this person groomed Alicia complementing and connecting with her until she trusted them and thought of them as a friend. This person slowly became closer and closer to Alicia possibly meeting with her in person or passing in notes through the hole in her flyscreen. Until one night they asked her to run away with them which she accepted as she considered this person a friend. But this person wasn’t her friend they kidnapped her and she possibly didn’t even know it but now all we can hope is for her to find her way home.
